^ This. Also, I am literally in the exact same boat right now and it is beyond stressful. I have a huge project starting in early January and my current rig is starting to act super weird, so I am also trying to figure out the best way to snag a flagship without getting fleeced. Ngl, trying to balance a tight budget with the need for reliable hardware right before a deadline is the absolute worst. Just to get a better idea of what might work for you... what kind of software are you actually running for that video contract? Like, are you doing heavy 3D rendering or is it mostly just editing and color grading? Also, do you rely on any specific plugins that only work well on one brand, or are you pretty much open to whatever gives you the best bang for your buck?

Hey there! Congrats on the new job, thats so exciting. Honestly, your first big designer purchase feels amazing once you actually have them in hand. I've been super satisfied with sticking to the major retailers because they are way safer than random sites you find on Google. You won't usually need a special code, the prices just drop automatically during the sale week. Here are the spots I usually watch:

Nordstrom (best return policy)

Net-a-Porter (totally legit and ships fast to Queens)

Saks Fifth Avenue (great for Louboutins) I grabbed the Prada Brushed Leather Loafers Black a while back and they have been worth every penny. If you want heels, the Christian Louboutin Kate 100mm Black Nappa Leather are the ones everyone loves. Just sign up for their newsletters a week before so you get the early access links... it works well for me every year.

Okay so I finally have a real job and saved up like 700 dollars to buy my first pair of actually nice shoes. Ive been wearing the same target flats for years and my feet are basically dying every day lol so I really need an upgrade. Im super excited to finally get something like Prada or maybe those red bottom ones everyone talks about but honestly I have no idea how any of this works.

Is Black Friday actually good for designer stuff?? Like do the big brands even do discounts or is it just the department stores like Nordstrom or Saks that have the sales? I live in a tiny apartment in Queens so I mostly do my shopping online cause I hate the crowds in the city but I dont want to get scammed by some fake website that looks real. I feel so dumb even asking this but like... do I need a coupon code or something? Or do I have to sign up for a newsletter months ago to get the good deals?

Everything is so expensive and I really dont want to mess this up since its my first big purchase ever and I want them to last a long time. Where are the best places or specific sites to keep an eye on for the 2026 designer shoe sales?

honestly reading this just gives me major flashbacks to the 2022 sales. ive been doing the west end circuit for years and these big deal events can be such a massive headache. a couple years back i thought i was being so smart... had three different browsers open and a giant pot of coffee ready for the midnight drop. i sat there for hours and the second i clicked buy the whole site just crashed. total disaster. i spent half the night staring at a loading bar while my anxiety hit the roof. by the time i actually got through at like 3 am the only seats left were way in the back with restricted views. it turned into this huge ordeal where i ended up paying full price for a different night just to stop the stress. you really gotta be careful with these countdowns because they will drain your soul before you even get a seat map to load. i still get annoyed just thinking about that whole weekend ngl. its just so draining when you plan everything out and the tech lets you down.

Regarding what #1 said about "Prioritize Best Buy for guaranteed reliability! The Nintendo Switch Lite Blue is fantastic for portability, while the Microsoft Xbox Series S 512GB Console is amazing for performance!" i totally agree, but honestly, Amazon is usually where the real chaos happens with those lightning deals. If you're stressed about that 300 dollar limit, you gotta be quick because stuff disappears in seconds. Been thinking about your situation and here are two quick tips to save your sanity:

Check the Amazon Warehouse or Best Buy Open Box sections. You can often snag a Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con for way under retail, which leaves you money for a game or a decent headset like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1 Multi-System Wired Gaming Headset.

Watch for the digital bundles. Sometimes the console itself isnt discounted much, but they throw in a 50 dollar gift card for the online store. Seriously tho, don't ignore GameStop for their refurbished stuff. They usually have a solid warranty on things like a Nintendo Switch OLED Model White if you can find one used near your price point. Honestly, for a kid's birthday, they wont care if the box has been opened before as long as it works and has something fun to play immediately. Keep an eye on those price trackers too, ngl they save lives when you're on a budget. It's way less stressful when you have an alert set up on your phone.
