Hey,

Coming at this from more of a “compare the market” angle than just Skillshare itself.

Short answer: if your goal is **max savings**, I wouldn’t assume Skillshare’s Black Friday is automatically the best play, especially for 2025.

From what I’ve tracked the last few years:
- **Skillshare**: usually ~40–50% off annual for *new* users, very meh for existing subs. Fine, but not crazy.
- **Domestika**: regularly does **60–75% off courses + extra % off bundles** on BF/CM. Great for design/illustration specifically, and you *own* the courses, not a subscription that disappears.
- **Udemy**: BF/CM is basically a fire sale… design/illustration courses dropping to **$9–15** each. Quality varies, but there are some killer gems.
- **Coursera / LinkedIn Learning**: occasionally do 30–50% off annual, but they’re more broad/pro/career focused than super creative.

So strategy-wise, IMO:
- Don’t over-wait for a *massive* Skillshare discount; it’s usually in the same 40–50% band.
- Budget assuming: Skillshare BF ~50% max, then pad extra for Domestika/Udemy BF where the **real** deep cuts often are.

If you really want ongoing practice and lots of bite-sized classes, wait for Skillshare’s BF annual. If you’re more project-based and don’t mind mixing platforms, I’d actually split your budget across Skillshare + Domestika/Udemy instead of going all-in on one sub.

Hope this helps!

Hey, I’m gonna come at this from a more “safety / reliability” angle than pure savings.

**Option A: Sign up now at a stable promo**
**Pros:** You lock in a price you’re ok with, no surprises, no stress watching for a 24–48h flash sale. If you’re serious about design/illustration, starting earlier also spreads the cost over more months of actual use.
**Cons:** You might miss a slightly better Black Friday % (say an extra 10–20%).

**Option B: Wait specifically for Black Friday/Cyber Monday**
**Pros:** Potentially the biggest headline discount, especially for annual + new users.
**Cons (this is where I’d be careful):** Deals can be region-specific, new-user only, or bundled with auto-renew at full price next year. Also, terms sometimes change quietly (refund window, VAT handling, etc.). You’re depending on Skillshare’s 2025 policy not shifting in a weird way.

**Option C: Hedge with a short commitment first** (e.g., 1 month, then upgrade if BF is good)
**Pros:** You test the platform and teachers you like, so you don’t blow a whole year on something you barely use. If a Black Friday annual deal shows up, you might be able to cancel monthly and switch (just make sure to read the current T&Cs before you do anything).
**Cons:** Slightly more admin, and there’s always a chance upgrades won’t qualify for the promo.

From a risk-averse standpoint, **I’d suggest Option C**:
- Start with a month (or whatever low-commitment option exists).
- Screenshot the price, terms, and renewal info when you sign up.
- Set a calendar reminder 1–2 weeks before Black Friday to reassess.

Also, whatever you do, **make sure to**:
- Double-check if the offer is *intro price only* and what next year’s auto-renew will be.
- Confirm if discounts apply to existing users or strictly new accounts (and avoid making duplicate accounts just to “game it” — that can backfire).

So yeah, in my opinion: don’t gamble your whole learning plan on a maybe-better BF deal. Use a small, low-risk commitment now, then upgrade only if the 2025 promo is clearly better *and* the terms look safe.

Hope this helps!

Hey,

Budget-wise, here’s what I’d do if I were planning for end of 2025:

**1. Assume the best deals = annual + new user.**
Historically I’ve seen the juiciest BF/CM stuff on the *annual* plan, and usually for new accounts. Think in the ~40–50% off range, not 70% unicorn deals.

**2. Put a price ceiling in your head.**
Decide now: “If I can get annual for $X or less, I’m in.” If the BF deal doesn’t beat that, don’t stress about waiting all year — just grab a normal promo later (Skillshare runs smaller discounts pretty often).

**3. If you’re existing, do the math on pausing.**
If you’re already subscribed and your renewal is close to BF, it can actually be cheaper to cancel/let it lapse, then come back on a new email with the BF deal. A bit annoying, but it works.

**4. Consider timing vs usage.**
If you’re *ready* to grind through design/illustration classes now, it can be more cost‑effective to start earlier with a regular discount than wait months for BF and then be too busy to use it.

So: if you’re not in a rush, I’d wait and budget assuming ~40–50% off annual for new users. If you want to start learning in the next 1–2 months, I’d just grab the best current annual promo and not gamble the whole year on slightly better savings.

Hope this helps!

Hey,

So, quick bit of background: platforms like Skillshare usually treat Black Friday/Cyber Monday as *user acquisition* campaigns, not really loyalty rewards. That’s important, because it affects how good the deals are and *who* can actually use them.

Why this matters for you:
- Annual is almost always where the biggest % discount goes (because they lock you in for 12 months of revenue). Monthly might get a token promo, but historically the eye‑catching “50% off” type stuff is on annual.
- Be careful with "new user only" fine print. In previous years, a lot of the best codes were new-account only or only worked if you weren’t currently subscribed. Existing users often got weaker “upgrade/extend” offers, if any.
- In my notes (yeah, I track this stuff 🙃), I’ve seen roughly **30–50% off annual** around BF/CM, not 70%+ or anything crazy.

What I’d suggest, practically:
1. **Don’t lock into annual yet** if your budget is tight and you can wait. There’s a decent chance Black Friday gives you ~40–50% off annual.
2. If you’re already sure you want a year, you might want to:
- Use a **1-month trial / short paid month** now (if available),
- Then cancel auto-renew and wait to see the BF/CM offers,
- Reactivate on the discounted annual with a *different email* if it’s new-user only (just be careful with losing class lists, etc.).
3. Compare the “cost per month you’ll *actually use* it.” For example: if you’ll only be going hard for 3–4 months, stacking a few discounted monthly offers or a promo month might still beat paying a full (even discounted) annual.

Also, Skillshare isn’t the only game in town. For design/illustration, you might want to keep an eye on:
- **Domestika** – they run aggressive BF sales on *per-course* purchases and bundles.
- **Udemy** – BF is usually their lowest pricing of the year (often $10–15 per course).
- **Coursera/LinkedIn Learning** – sometimes do big % off annual around the holidays.

If I were in your position: I’d wait and plan to pounce on BF/CM *unless* you have a very specific project starting sooner. In the meantime, you can line up a course list, try some free trials, and see if Skillshare’s catalog is actually worth a whole year for your specific design/illustration goals.

Hope this helps! Happy to break down options if you share roughly how many hours/month you expect to study and what tools (Illustrator, Procreate, etc.) you’re focusing on.

Hey,

I’m in kind of the same boat as you – I’m pretty new to Skillshare and also trying not to waste money. I can’t speak for 2025 obviously, but here’s what *actually* happened for me the last two years:

- I saw **bigger discounts on annual** than monthly. Monthly was usually just a small promo or a longer free trial, while annual had the more serious % off.
- The best Black Friday deal I personally saw was around **40–50% off annual for new users**. As an existing user, I mostly got “upgrade/extend” emails with weaker offers, like 20–30% off.
- Once I waited for BF, and the deal was only slightly better than a regular promo I’d skipped… so it wasn’t some crazy 70%+ thing.

If you’re cautious with money (like me), I’d suggest:
- **Don’t lock into annual yet** unless you’re sure you’ll use it a lot.
- Maybe try a **short monthly** now, see if you actually stick with the classes.
- If you’re liking it by October/early November, then wait and see what BF/Cyber Monday brings for the annual.

Might want to also set a price in your head (like “if it’s 40% off or more, I’ll grab it”) so you don’t overthink it.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you wanna compare what emails/offers you’re seeing later in the year.

Has anyone heard anything about Skillshare’s Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals for 2025 yet?

I’m trying to plan out my learning budget for the end of the year, and Skillshare is high on my list because I want to dive deeper into design and illustration classes. In past years I’ve seen random promos like 40–50% off annual plans, but I never caught them at the right time, and I’m wondering if Black Friday/Cyber Monday is when they usually offer the biggest discount.

A few specific things I’m curious about:
- Do they typically discount the **annual** plan more than the monthly one?
- Are the deals usually for **new users only**, or can existing subscribers also upgrade/renew with the sale price?
- Roughly what kind of percentage discount have you seen around Black Friday/Cyber Monday in previous years (e.g., 30%, 50%, 70%)?

I don’t want to sign up too early and miss a big promo, but I also don’t want to wait and then find out the deals were barely different from their regular offers. If you’ve tracked Skillshare’s sales in past Black Friday/Cyber Monday events or have any insight into what to expect for 2025, what would you suggest I do: sign up now or wait for the holiday deals?
