Hey! So, coming at this more from a “what’s the whole market doing?” angle…

**Quick tip:** use other brands’ deals as your anchor, not just past Kindle prices.

Around BF/CM, Kobo and sometimes Nook usually drop *more aggressively* than Amazon on similar models (e.g. Kobo Clara HD/2e vs Paperwhite). When Kobo knocks, say, $30–$40 off, Amazon tends to keep the Paperwhite within striking distance rather than letting it look overpriced.

So for 2025, I’d personally:
- **Watch Kobo/other ereader promos first** (often start early BF week).
- Expect Amazon to match “value” more than exact price, especially on the **standard Paperwhite 8GB with ads** (the “headline” model).
- Signature Edition and higher storage often get **smaller % cuts**, but if Kobo discounts their higher-end models, Amazon sometimes nudges Signature too so it doesn’t look bad on comparison charts.

If you see Kobo’s comparable model hitting ~$100–$120 range, that’s usually the moment Amazon’s Paperwhite deal is “as good as it’ll reasonably get” for that season, in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

Hey, so quick story: I waited for a “killer” Black Friday deal on a Paperwhite a couple years ago, rushed an order from a random third‑party seller because it was a few bucks cheaper than Amazon… and it showed up with a sketchy, mismatched charger and clearly wasn’t new. I ended up returning it and buying direct from Amazon at a *slightly* higher price but with proper warranty and support.

So from a safety/reliability angle, I’d say:

- **Buy from Amazon or a trusted big retailer**, especially around BF/CM when fake/grey‑market stuff pops up. Be careful with marketplace sellers offering “too good” prices.
- **Check for official packaging and the correct, certified charger** (or just use your own reputable USB charger). Avoid weird, unbranded bricks – overheating and battery issues aren’t worth a $10 saving.
- **Signature vs standard**: Signature’s wireless charging and more storage are nice, but more features = more potential points of failure. If you’re cautious, the regular Paperwhite is simpler and, in my opinion, has fewer things to worry about long‑term.
- **Ads vs no ads**: I’d personally avoid buying accounts/devices that were “hacked” to remove ads. Make sure you’re getting a legit, ad-supported or ad-free unit with proper registration.

Price‑wise, you’ll usually see the “real” safe deals from Amazon itself in the same general range others mentioned (historically like $30–$50 off). I’d suggest: decide your max price now, wait for an official Amazon deal around that number, and pull the trigger there rather than chasing the absolute lowest number from a sketchy source.

Hope this helps and keeps you (and your new Kindle) on the safe side!

Hey,

From a pure budget/value angle, I’d actually say: **don’t fixate only on BF/CM — watch the whole Oct–Dec window and have a walk-away price in mind.**

**What I’d personally aim for (based on the last few years):**
- Standard Paperwhite (8GB, with ads): if you see it around **$95–$105**, that’s already a solid deal. Under **$95** is “just buy it” territory IMO.
- Paperwhite Signature: around **$135–$145** is good, **$130 or under** is excellent and doesn’t happen all the time.

In my experience (I’ve bought/lurked on Kindle deals since like 2016):
- The **best prices aren’t always on the actual BF/CM days**. Amazon likes “Early Black Friday” and “Holiday” sales that quietly match the big discounts, sometimes a week before.
- The **difference between BF and CM is usually tiny**. Be careful about waiting for Cyber Monday hoping for an extra $5–10 off… you might just miss the color/storage you want and end up paying more later.

A few practical money tips:
1. **Ads vs no ads**: If you’re cost-conscious, get **with ads** and only pay to remove them later *if* they bug you. That spreads the cost and you might find you don’t care.
2. **Storage**: Unless you read tons of comics/PDFs, 8GB is fine. Extra storage often isn’t worth the premium versus just using cloud.
3. **Bundles**: Be careful with “Essentials” bundles. They *look* discounted but often cost more than buying the Kindle + a cheap 3rd-party case.
4. **Old model clearance**: If a new Paperwhite drops before BF 2025 (possible), the **previous gen can get the deepest cuts**. That’s usually the true value sweet spot if you don’t need the latest shiny thing.

So I’d suggest: decide your max price now (e.g. “I’ll grab the standard at $99 or less”), start watching from early November, and pull the trigger the first time your target price appears rather than chasing some mythical better Cyber Monday deal.

Hope this helps!

Hey,

I’ve been nerding out on Kindle pricing for a few years, so here’s the more “technical / spreadsheet brain” take on it.

**1. Black Friday vs Cyber Monday**
From what I’ve tracked (2021–2024):
- The **best Kindle prices usually drop on or just before Black Friday** and then get **repeated on Cyber Monday**, not really beaten.
- Amazon tends to set a BF price and keep it through the whole “deal weekend” unless stock starts disappearing.

So I’d **plan for BF as your main target** and only wait for CM if you’re not sure which model you want yet.

**2. What discounts to expect (ballpark)**
Obviously 2025 isn’t out yet, but looking at previous years (rough pattern, not exact numbers):
- **Standard Paperwhite (8 GB, with ads)** often drops to roughly **30–35% off MSRP**.
- **Without ads** is usually discounted less aggressively, but the *difference* between with-ads and no-ads shrinks. It sometimes makes more sense to buy with ads on sale and then pay the ad-removal fee later if they bug you.
- **Signature Edition** usually gets a **slightly smaller % discount** than the base model, but still good. Think more like **20–30% off**, depending on region.

**3. Signature vs Standard – actual value, not just specs**
Stuff that actually matters in day-to-day use:
- **Wireless charging** (Signature): nice if you already have Qi pads. If not, you’re paying for a feature you might barely use. Charging via USB-C is already fast.
- **Auto-adjusting front light**: this is the big one IMO. If you read a lot at night, the automatic brightness is fantastic and feels more “set and forget.”
- **Storage (8 GB vs 32 GB)**: 8 GB is plenty unless you’re loading tons of comics/manga or massive PDFs. Regular ebooks are tiny.

If you’re mainly reading standard novels, the standard PW is the best price/performance. If you want the “nice things” (auto brightness + wireless charging) and plan to keep it for many years, the Signature is a more future-proof buy.

**4. Bundles & weird pricing gotchas**
- **Bundle deals** (cover + power adapter) can be sneaky-good. Sometimes the **bundle is discounted more than the Kindle alone**, so per-item you’re paying less.
- **Kids edition Paperwhite** is worth watching too. It’s basically the same hardware as the regular PW but with:
- No ads
- A cover included
- Extended warranty (often 2 years)
Sometimes the Kids model is actually **cheaper** than the adult with-ads model once on sale. Sounds dumb, but it happens.

**5. Strategy for 2025 specifically**
What I’d do:
1. **Before BF:** Add these to your wishlist/cart:
- PW 8 GB with ads
- PW no-ads
- Signature Edition
- Kids Edition PW
- Any bundles with covers that look decent.
2. **On BF morning:** Compare:
- Standard PW with ads vs Kids Edition (no ads + case) – kids version often wins on value.
- Signature vs base: if the **price gap is under ~$40–50**, I’d lean Signature if you read a lot. If the gap is bigger, base PW is better bang-for-buck.
3. **Don’t over-wait for Cyber Monday** unless:
- Stock is healthy and you’re still undecided.
- You’re OK with possibly losing a specific color / storage combo.

TL;DR: Expect **solid but not insane discounts**, best prices usually **start on Black Friday**, and from a pure value perspective, standard PW or Kids PW usually win… unless you really want the Signature’s auto light + wireless charging for long-term comfort.

Hope this helps! If you share your reading habits (night vs day, comics vs text, etc.), I can totally suggest a more specific pick + price point to wait for.

Hey, I’ve been tracking and buying Kindles during BF/CM for a few years and, unfortunately, the discounts aren’t as crazy as people hope.

For the Paperwhite, I usually see the *real* deals on Black Friday itself or the weekend, with Cyber Monday just repeating the same price. Historically it’s been about $40–$55 off the regular Paperwhite, less on the Signature. The Signature Edition *does* go on sale, but usually with a smaller % discount, so the value isn’t as good unless you really care about wireless charging and more storage.

One thing that annoyed me: the with-ads models get the biggest “headline” discounts, but if you later pay to remove ads, your total cost ends up close to a no-ads unit that was on sale. So if you hate lockscreen ads, I’d wait for the no-ads version to drop and buy it that way instead of “saving” now and paying later.

If 8 GB is enough and you don’t need wireless charging, I’d target the standard Paperwhite at around $100-ish (US) during Black Friday and just pull the trigger then. Cyber Monday hasn’t been better for me, just more FOMO marketing.

Hope this helps! If you say where you’re buying from (US/EU/etc.), I can share the ranges I’ve seen there too.

In past years, did the Paperwhite usually get bigger price cuts on Black Friday or on Cyber Monday? I’m also torn between the standard Paperwhite and the Signature Edition, and wondering if both models tend to go on sale or if deals usually only apply to certain storage sizes / bundles (like the ones with ads vs no ads). For those who tracked or bought during previous years, what kind of deals and prices should I watch for in 2025, and when’s the best time to pull the trigger?
