Late to the party, but does that 900 bucks include a monitor? I once spent way too much on a fancy i7 and had no money left for a decent graphics card. I ended up with a stuttering mess because the GPU couldnt keep up.

Stick to an i5 like the Intel Core i5-13400F 10-Core 2.5GHz LGA1700 so you have cash for the GPU.

Be cautious with early sales; stick to big retailers.

TL;DR: Watch B&H or Amazon. Be careful with i7s, just get an Intel Core i5-14600K 14-Core 5.3GHz LGA1700 since expensive chips will eat your budget and theyll probably overheat a basic setup.

tbh I was in your shoes a bit ago and obsessed over every sale. I ended up with the Intel Core i5-13600K 14-Core 5.1GHz LGA1700 and its been solid for everything, zero complaints. Best tip is to just camp out on r/buildapcsales or Newegg’s newsletter around mid-November. I found my best deals there and honestly, an i5 works perfectly fine for most games without melting your wallet.

So I finally decided I'm gonna build my first ever gaming PC because my laptop literally sounds like a jet engine every time I try to open Minecraft lol. My cousin told me I should wait for the big sales in 2026 to get the best parts but I am so confused about where people actually find the early deals they talk about online. Like is there a secret website or something? I have about 900 dollars saved up right now and I really want one of those Intel chips because everyone says they are super fast for games. I went on the Intel website and there are so many numbers like i5 and i7 and i9 and I have absolutely no clue what the difference is or which one I even need for a basic setup.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question but I'm just so lost with all the technical talk. I live in a small town in Oregon and the only place nearby is a small shop that overcharges for everything so I'm definitely buying online. Does anyone know where the 2026 Black Friday stuff starts getting posted or if there are lists I should be looking at now so I can be ready?
