Re: "Step one is prioritizing reliability! I agree with @Reply #2 and love the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 because it's an amazing card with fantastic safety features!" Ngl I am so pumped for the 50-series cards too! I totally agree that focusing on a reliable build is the absolute secret sauce to not being miserable in two years. My big tip for you if you're worried about that 750 dollar budget and sales tax is to hunt for those open-box deals at big retailers around that time. People buy cards like the MSI Ventus 3X GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 and return them for tiny scratches or just because they realized they needed a different size, and you can snag those for 15 or 20% off pretty easily. Its a fantastic way to stretch your money without having to settle for a cheaper brand! Also, honestly, make sure your power delivery is rock solid before you drop that kind of cash. I always tell people to grab something like a EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G6 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU because it has such amazing protection for your high-end components. I've seen too many people kill a new GPU with an old, sketchy power supply... definitely not worth the risk! If you track prices with a browser extension, you'll see that real drops happen in the weird off months like March too, not just Black Friday. Stay optimistic because building a new rig is seriously the best feeling ever!

Honestly I am just so fed up with my current setup and the way the market is going right now. I’m still rocking this 3070 and it’s starting to struggle with literally everything I try to play at 1440p lately. I was trying to play some Alan Wake 2 and the stuttering was just driving me crazy, it feels like I paid a premium for something that’s already falling apart. So I was thinking, okay, I’ll just hold out for the 50-series because surely they’ll have to fix the VRAM issues and the pricing right? But then I started looking at the timeline and my logic was that if the 5080 or 5070 drops in early 2025, by the time Black Friday 2026 rolls around, they should be seeing some actual, real discounts. Not those fake 20 dollar off coupons but like a solid 20-30% drop.

But I’m honestly so pessimistic about it because Nvidia just seems to love keeping prices inflated forever now. I’m planning this big rebuild for late 2026 because that’s when I’m hoping GTA VI finally makes it to PC and I want to be ready, but I’ve only got about 750 bucks set aside for the GPU specifically and I live in a state where sales tax is basically a robbery. I’ve been burned before waiting for sales that never happen. Like, I remember waiting for the 40-series to drop in price and they just... didnt? They just stayed expensive until they were replaced.

Is late 2026 too soon for a real sale on a card that would only be a year and a half old? It feels like we used to get better deals back in the day but now with all the AI hype I’m worried they wont care about the gaming market at all anymore. Do you think they’ll actually have stock to clear out by then or am I just setting myself up for more disappointment? I really dont want to have to settle for another mid-tier card that’s gonna be obsolete in two years but I cant afford 1500 for a flagship...
