Just saw this thread... reminds me of the time I went full data nerd on this. Last year I actually logged price movements for a few spots in Osaka every day for two months. From a technical side, it was super interesting to see how the backend handled the sale tags. Basically, the original price in the metadata would shift right before the sale went live. I learned that the discount badge is often just a UI element triggered by the date rather than an actual drop from the lowest historical price. I did end up finding a real dip late on Cyber Monday, probably because of some inventory threshold being met in the database, but it was a lot of manual tracking. Taught me to ignore the flashy banners and just look at the actual numbers. It is way more about timing the inventory cycles than the actual holiday event itself, at least from what I saw in my logs.

Hey! Seeing everyone's comments, I thought I'd chime in with a slightly different angle. While discounts are great, I've found focusing *solely* on Agoda's Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals can sometimes lead to compromises on the *actual* accommodation quality, especially in a place like Japan.

What I mean is, are you prioritizing a specific location (like near a certain train station in Tokyo), or are you willing to stay further out for a cheaper deal? In my experience, the extra travel time and potential hassle can negate any savings. Also, consider the star rating *really* carefully during those sales. I've seen some lower-rated places get heavily discounted, and... well, you get what you pay for! I've definitely learned that lesson over the years. Maybe consider balancing the discount with reviews and location to avoid disappointment. Hope this helps!

Hey! Everyone's giving great advice on the sales and algorithms, which is super helpful. But I think there's another angle to consider for your Japan trip, especially if you're planning far in advance: **the weather and regional events!**

Why does this matter for Black Friday/Cyber Monday? Well, the *best* deals might be for times of year that aren't ideal for your specific destination or interests. For example, you might snag an amazing deal on a Ryokan in Kyoto, but it's during the rainy season in June! Not so fun.

So, here's what I'd suggest: First, **nail down *when* you want to go to Japan.** Think about things like cherry blossom season (super popular, $$$), the autumn foliage (also pricey), or avoiding typhoon season (usually cheaper, but risky). Once you've got a target time frame, *then* start looking at Agoda deals.

Also, consider *where* in Japan you want to go. Hokkaido in winter is amazing for skiing, but accommodation there will be totally different (and potentially more expensive) than, say, Okinawa during the same period. Different regions = different peak seasons = different deals.

When you see a deal on Agoda, ask yourself: "Why is this so cheap?" Is it because it's during a less desirable time of year for that specific location? If so, is that a dealbreaker for you?

Honestly, sometimes paying a little extra for the *right* time of year is worth it. You don't want to save $100 on your hotel and then spend your entire vacation stuck inside because of rain or extreme heat! Hope this helps you plan the PERFECT Japan trip! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey! So, everyone's talking about gaming the system, and that's cool, but I've got a slightly different take. I've been using Agoda for years, and while I *do* try to find deals, I also focus on something else: AgodaCash.

Basically, every time I book, I earn a little AgodaCash. It's not much per booking, but it adds up over time. Then, when Black Friday/Cyber Monday rolls around, I combine whatever discounts they're offering with my accumulated AgodaCash. I think it's a decent option!

For example, last year I had about $50 in AgodaCash saved up. I combined it with a Black Friday discount and got an extra 15% off a hotel in Seoul. Saved some nice cash!

Honestly, it's not a get-rich-quick scheme, but it's a consistent way to save a bit extra. Start booking now, even if it's just small trips, and build up that AgodaCash balance for next year. Good luck, and happy travels!

Hey! I see you're focused on Agoda, and I totally get wanting to find the best deal for your Japan trip. I've been there, planning way ahead is smart!

Unfortunately, I've had issues with Agoda's Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals in the past – not always as good as expected, IMO. They can be a bit…opaque, let's say.

Quick tip: Don't put all your eggs in one basket! Seriously. While monitoring Agoda, *also* keep a close eye on Booking.com and Expedia. They often have competing sales, and sometimes their prices are better *even without* a special promotion. I've found Booking.com, in particular, to be more transparent with their pricing. Plus, if you're a Genius member (their loyalty program), you might snag some extra discounts. Worth checking out!

Also, consider looking at Japanese hotel chains directly, like Toyoko Inn or APA Hotels. They might have their own deals that bypass the big travel sites entirely.

Good luck, and happy planning!

Hey! Seeing everyone talk about trying to game Agoda's algorithm reminded me of something... Have you thought about going full DIY on this? I mean, instead of *relying* on Agoda's Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, why not create your *own* 'deal' by piecing things together?

What I mean is, book your flights separately (look at budget airlines, maybe?) and then find independent hotels or even Airbnb's in Japan. Sometimes, you can seriously undercut the 'package deals' or what Agoda is offering, even *with* their discounts. Plus, you get more flexibility!

I've done this a bunch of times, and honestly, it's often cheaper, especially if you're willing to stay a bit outside the main tourist areas. Just a thought, and another way to approach getting those savings for your Japan trip! Good luck with the planning!
