Which of the big TV deals on Amazon Canada should I actually buy this Cyber Monday?

I'm trying to upgrade my living room setup in Toronto before the family visits for Christmas and I'm torn between two specific models. I'm looking at the LG 55-inch C6 OLED which is currently hovering around $1500 but hoping for a drop, and the Hisense 55-inch U8N which is already on sale for like $900.

Budget is strictly $1300 max. The TV goes in a super bright room, so I'm worried the OLED might reflect too much, but everyone says the picture is unmatched. Which one is the better bet?

In my experience, putting an OLED in a bright Toronto living room is a recipe for disappointment. I've tested dozens of panels over the years, and ambient light is the ultimate killer of the OLED advantage. While the infinite contrast of the LG C6 55-inch OLED TV is unmatched in a dark room, it just doesnt have the luminance to fight heavy glare. OLEDs generally top out around 800 nits of peak brightness, and their reflective gloss screens make dark scenes look like a mirror in daylight. You are much better off saving some cash and grabbing the Hisense 55U8N 55-inch Mini-LED TV. Mini-LED tech is built for bright environments. The U8N pushes well over 2000 nits peak brightness, which basically overpowers any ambient light coming through your windows. Plus, the local dimming on that model is advanced enough that you still get incredibly deep blacks without the risk of burn-in or the aggressive auto-brightness limiter dimming your screen during hockey games. At $900, it stays well under your $1300 limit, whereas hoping for the LG to drop $200 is a gamble. Go with the Hisense for a bright room setup.
