Ive been building my own PCs since the DDR3 days and usually I can predict the holiday sales trends pretty well. But this year feels totally different with how weird GPU and PCIe 5.0 SSD pricing has been lately. Im planning a major workstation upgrade this November to handle some heavy 4K editing, got about a $1200 budget set aside. Normally Id just wait for the usual 15% drops on Newegg, but the inventory patterns look super unstable right now.

Anyone got predictions on what Newegg Cyber Monday deals are actually gonna look like for mid-to-high end components this year? Are we gonna see actual discounts or just bundled fluff?

I love planning holiday builds! Last year I scored an amazing deal by ignoring the hyped Gen5 drives and focusing on bundles. For a $1200 workstation upgrade, here is my strategy:

  • Skip Gen5 SSDs and grab the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD which will definitely drop under $130.
  • Look for CPU and RAM bundles, Newegg loves discounting combo deals on AMD chips.
