Ive been running marathons for a decade so I usually know my gear inside out but honestly Im stumped. My usual daily trainers are feeling flat and I think I need to switch brands before my next training cycle starts in December. With Cyber Monday 2026 coming up Im hunting for something with high stack height but still responsive.

Specifics I need:

  • under 130 bucks
  • neutral support
  • wide toe box
  • handles 40 miles a week

I usually buy last years models but Ive heard the new nitro foams in the 2026 lines are a game changer so I dont want to miss a legit discount... anyone seen early leaks?

Ive been digging through the early leaks for the 2026 holiday sales and honestly, the nitro-infused foams are totally living up to the hype. If youre hitting 40 miles a week, you definitely need that supercritical foam to avoid the flat feeling you're getting. Standard EVA just doesnt have the chemical resilience for that kind of volume anymore. Heres what Id keep an eye on for the discounts:

  • Puma Magnify Nitro 4 Max Cushion Neutral
  • This one is a beast for long runs. The dual-density Nitro foam gives plenty of squish but the energy return is way higher than old-school stuff. It usually drops under $120 on Cyber Monday.
  • New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 v15 2E Wide
  • Their 2026 tweaks improved the rocker geometry significantly. High stack but the wide version actually gives your toes room to splay.
  • Saucony Ride 18 PWRRUN+ Neutral Trainer
  • Tbh, their TPU-based foam is incredibly durable for heavy weekly mileage. These newer foams dont degrade as fast because the cell structure is gas-infused. Just watch the midfoot width tho, some brands are getting narrow there even with wide toe boxes.

Honestly, im pretty satisfied with the direction these brands are taking for 2026. Before I give a final verdict though, whats your preference on heel-to-toe drop? Some of the higher stack heights this year are pushing 10mm which can feel weird if you're used to something flatter. For your mileage, you might really like the Asics Novablast 5 FF Blast Plus ECO. The geometry works well for neutral runners and the toe box is surprisingly accomodating. Another solid bet that should hit your price point during the sales is the Brooks Ghost Max 3 DNA LOFT v3. It uses their latest nitrogen-injected foam so it stays bouncy even at the end of a long run. No complaints on the durability so far either... definitely worth keeping on your radar for the discounts.

Stumbled upon this thread and it reminds me of my 2018 marathon prep. I got suckered into a massive discount on high-stack trainers that were supposed to be the next big thing. Ended up with nasty tendonitis because I didnt realize how much that extra foam would mess with my mechanics. After a decade of running, Ive learned some hard lessons about chasing those Cyber Monday steals.

  • High stack doesnt always mean better recovery if the foam is too mushy.
  • Be careful with those 2026 nitro foams; some of them are amazing but bottom out way too fast for high mileage.
  • Price points under 130 often use cheaper outsoles that wont survive a winter training block. Basically, prioritize the fit over the hype. I've wasted way too much money on top tier tech that just sat in my closet after three painful runs. Just keep an eye out for stability issues when the height goes up... it can be a real ankle snapper.
