So I'm trying to start actually going to the gym for real this time because I've been saying I would for like two years now and honestly I'm just tired of feeling sluggish all the time. But the thing is I literally have zero gym clothes. I've been wearing these old baggy cotton t-shirts and some random shorts I found in the back of my closet but they get all sweaty and gross and they don't really dry fast at all. Someone told me I need actual activewear or performance stuff but I looked at a few sites and oh my god it's so expensive?? Like how is one pair of leggings sixty dollars I actually almost choked. I don't even know what I'm looking for really just something that fits and doesn't make me look like a total mess.

Since Cyber Monday is coming up I figured that would be the best time to actually buy some stuff without going broke. I'm in Seattle so it's getting super cold and rainy and I probably need stuff that can handle that if I'm gonna try running outside or even just walking to the gym. I probably need leggings and those like zip-up jackets or something that keeps the wind out. I don't really know which brands are actually good though like is the expensive stuff actually better or are you just paying for the little logo? I see ads for Lululemon and Gymshark and Nike but I have no clue if those are the ones that have the big sales or if I should look at other places. I checked Amazon too but there are a million brands I've never heard of and I don't want stuff that falls apart after one wash. My budget is maybe $150 total and I'm hoping to get at least two or three full outfits if that's even possible.

Sorry if this is a really basic question but I'm just totally lost with all the options out there. Which brands usually have the best deals for Cyber Monday where I can get decent quality stuff for a newbie? Is there like a specific site I should be stalking for the best discounts or should I just check everywhere...

Careful with thin brands. Check Baleaf Thermal Fleece Leggings for warmth over Nike Therma-FIT One Tights which are thinner. Baleaf is cheaper but actually handles the Seattle dampness better imo.

TL;DR: Focus on Target and Reebok for the best price-to-performance ratio. In my experience, buying the absolute cheapest gear on Amazon is a trap. I've tried many of those no-name brands over the years and most lose their shape or go see-through way too fast. Since you are in Seattle, you really need moisture-wicking synthetics that wont stay damp. I highly recommend the Target All in Motion Contour Power Waist Leggings for daily gym use. They're sturdy, have pockets, and handle the wash much better than fast-fashion alternatives. For your outdoor needs, stalking the Reebok site on Cyber Monday is your best bet. They typically offer 50-60 percent off. I personally use the Reebok Workout Ready Windbreaker for my rainy morning walks. It is light but keeps the chill out. If you are methodical about hitting these sales, you can easily get three high-quality outfits for under $150 without sacrificing durability.

Seattle weather is no joke for gear! Since youre on a budget, you gotta hit Old Navy and Gymshark for the big sales. Gymshark usually does up to 60 or 70 percent off on Cyber Monday which is insane! Honestly for $150 you can totally crush those 3 outfits if you time it right. Look for moisture-wicking fabrics specifically so you dont freeze in the rain. I love tech gear that actually breathes. Check out these specifically:

  • Old Navy PowerSoft High-Waisted Leggings - the polyester/spandex blend has amazing compression for the price.
  • Under Armour UA Tech 2.0 Short Sleeve - the fabric tech is fantastic for drying fast and the anti-odor tech actually works.
  • Gymshark Training Zip Up Hoodie - perfect for that wind protection you need. Old Navy is basically the goat for budget tech gear imo. Their stuff holds up way better than the cheap no-name Amazon brands, just make sure to look for the Active line specifically!

Totally agree with the Target shoutout, their stuff is surprisingly legit for the price. Just a heads up tho, be careful when you start looking at those random 'deals' on social media... half that stuff is basically fast fashion that'll start pilling after two gym sessions. Since you're in Seattle and dealing with that constant mist, I'd suggest checking out the Under Armour outlet site specifically on Cyber Monday. They usually stack discounts which is how you actually stay under budget without buying garbage. Few things to keep in mind for reliability:

  • Check the material for Elastane or Spandex percentage. If it's too low, leggings will sag by the end of your workout and you'll be pulling them up every five minutes.
  • For tops, Under Armour Tech 2.0 Short Sleeve T-Shirt is a tank. It doesn't get that weird permastink that the super cheap polyester shirts from the grocery store get after a few washes.
  • Since you're worried about the cold, look for brushed interiors. I'd suggest Adidas Tiro Track Pants if they go on sale. They're classic for a reason and way more durable than thin leggings for walking to the gym in the rain. Basically, stick to the big name outlet sites for Cyber Monday. You get the 'logo' quality but at the Amazon prices if you time it right.
