Hey everyone,
So, this is a bit of a weird one, and I apologize if it seems off-topic at first, but bear with me. I just bought a new (to me) 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat, and after years of driving smaller cars, the bed is a game-changer. I'm planning on doing a lot more camping and road trips, and the back seat is going to be the designated dog zone (she's a big Lab!), which means I need to figure out a comfortable sleeping arrangement for myself in the bed of the truck.
I've been looking at various truck bed tents and air mattresses, but I'm really leaning towards getting a high-quality mattress topper to put in the bed under a truck bed tent. I figure a good topper will provide better support and be more comfortable than a typical air mattress, especially for longer trips. I've heard really good things about Simba Sleep mattresses, particularly their hybrid design, and I was thinking their topper might be a good option for this purpose. They seem to balance comfort and support, which is exactly what I need when sleeping on the relatively hard surface of a truck bed.
Now, here's where the seemingly random forum title comes in: "Simba Sleep Discount Codes? Where can I find it?" I've been searching online for any discount codes for Simba Sleep, specifically for their mattress topper, but haven't had much luck. Before I pull the trigger on a purchase, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask if anyone here knows of any valid codes or deals. Maybe someone works for Simba (unlikely, but hey!), or has come across a promotion recently.
But more broadly, I'm also curious if anyone else has tried using a memory foam or hybrid mattress topper like the Simba in their truck bed for camping? What are your experiences? Did it work well? What size did you get? (The F-150 bed is approximately 6.5 feet long, so I'm thinking a Twin XL or Full might work best, but I'm open to suggestions). Are there any other brands you'd recommend over Simba for this specific application? I'm looking for something durable, comfortable, and ideally, relatively easy to clean (knowing me, I'll probably spill coffee on it at some point!).
Also, any thoughts on the best way to secure the mattress topper in the truck bed? I'm worried about it shifting around while driving, even with the tent on top. Should I be looking at some kind of non-slip mat to put underneath it? Or are there other tricks people use?
Finally, and I know this is getting long, but any recommendations for a good truck bed tent that works well with a mattress topper? I'm looking for something relatively easy to set up and take down, and that offers good weather protection (rain and wind are common where I live).
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions! I'm really excited about getting out there and exploring, but I want to make sure I have a comfortable and reliable setup. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Can confirm
Jumping in here to share my experience. I tried a similar setup last season, but the results were unfortunately not as good as expected. While it sounds comfortable, standard indoor toppers often fail to meet the reliability needs of truck camping.
Hey! For Simba discounts, try Honey or RetailMeNot – they often have codes. I use a full-size memory foam topper in my truck bed under a Napier tent; it's super comfy! A non-slip mat underneath is a must to prevent sliding. Securing it with some ratchet straps to the bed tie-downs can also help. Enjoy your camping trips!
Hey! Great choice on the F-150, and awesome idea to camp in the bed. I've done something similar.
Regarding Simba Sleep discounts, try searching "Simba Sleep promo code" on Google and use browser extensions like Honey or RetailMeNot. They often automatically find and apply codes. Also, signing up for their email list might give you an initial discount.
I haven't used a Simba topper specifically, but I've used a similar memory foam topper in my truck bed. A Twin XL should fit pretty well in your 6.5' bed. I'd recommend a non-slip mat underneath – it'll save you a headache. You can find these at most camping stores or even hardware stores (rubberized shelf liner works in a pinch!). For securing it further, consider using some bungee cords attached to the bed tie-down points. Just be careful not to compress the foam too much.
As for truck bed tents, check out Napier or Rightline Gear. They have models designed to work with mattress setups. Ease of setup is key, so watch some review videos before you buy. Good luck, and happy camping!
