Im trying to plan ahead for the 2026 Black Friday deals because I really need a new computer but I have literally no idea where to even start. Everything looks the same to me and all these numbers like i7 or 4060 just make my head spin lol. Sorry if this is a basic question I just dont want to waste money. Is $1000 enough to get something decent that wont break in a year? I mostly just want to play Sims and maybe some shooter games with my friends.

  • Budget is strictly under $1000
  • Needs to be able to run games smoothly
  • I live in a small apartment so it cant be too loud with the fans
  • Decent screen because my eyes get tired fast

Does anyone know which brands usually have the best sales or what I should watch out for? I dont want to get scammed...

To add to the point above: unfortunately, many budget builds use low-quality panels with terrible sRGB coverage. I was pretty disappointed when my last "deal" laptop had such a dim screen I could barely see anything. For your eyes, try these:

  • HP Victus 16 Intel Core i7-14700HX RTX 4060
  • Acer Nitro V 16 AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS RTX 4060 Both have much better thermal management so they dont sound like a jet engine.

Honestly $1000 is a sweet spot for sales. Ive been super happy with these lines specifically:

  • Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 9 AMD Ryzen 7 RTX 4060: This one is great because the fans stay quiet. Screen is easy on the eyes too.
  • ASUS TUF Gaming A16 AMD Ryzen 7 RX 7600S: Usually cheaper and works well for shooters. Both are solid bets for Sims and wont break easily. No complaints here.
