honestly im so over my current gear its literally falling apart at the seams and i can barely get through a workday without a blue screen of death happening at least twice. it is so stressful. i am trying to plan way ahead for black friday 2026 because i need to save every single cent and i just know if i dont have a plan ill end up panic buying something overpriced and junk. everything is getting so expensive and it makes me so anxious thinking about it. i live in a small town in ohio so i usually have to order everything online and the shipping costs are just another headache to worry about.
im looking for any leaks or just gut feelings on what the big deals are gonna be for higher end electronics by then because i have a very specific set of needs and a tight timeline:
- total budget of $1800 for a new desktop and monitor
- screen has to be at least 32 inches because my eyesight is getting worse
- needs to handle 8k video editing because my side gig depends on it
- has to be reliable because i cant keep fixing stuff every six months
do we think the discounts on those next-gen gpus are gonna be actually worth the wait or should i just give up now and buy some refurbished crap? i just keep seeing these price hikes and it feels like there wont even be real deals anymore by 2026. its hard to keep track of what is actually a bargain vs just marketing noise...

Ngl for 8K editing on that budget, you gotta look at the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Desktop Processor once the newer generations push its price down. Pair it with a Dell UltraSharp U3223QE 32-inch 4K Monitor for the screen real estate. Buying components separately during the November sales is usually cheaper than pre-builts if you want reliability without the bloatware. Just make sure you get 64GB of RAM minimum for those 8K timelines tho.

I learned to value stability after my rig crashed mid-render. Basically, Apple Mac Studio M2 Max refurbished units are a decent option, and a LG 32UP83A-W 32-inch 4K should hit your target, imo.
