man my 3080 is literally screaming at me right now like the fans are making this weird grinding noise and im seeing green dots all over my screen whenever i try to boot up anything more intensive than chrome. i have this huge freelance rendering project coming up in early january 2027 and i absolutely need a stable machine by then but these prices are just making me sick to my stomach. ive been looking at the rtx 5090 because i really need that massive vram for the heavy scenes im working on but i also keep seeing rumors about the 60 series maybe being teased or at least some heavy discounts on the current high-end stuff once we actually hit the 2026 holiday season.

im basically torn between three paths right now. option one is just biting the bullet today and grabbing a 5090 for like two grand which is way over my budget but at least id have it. option two is waiting for black friday/cyber monday 2026 to see if the 5090 drops to something reasonable like $1600. or option three is just finding a used 4090 for cheap to tide me over but that feels like a total waste of money if the new flagship prices are gonna tank in december. my total budget for the gpu is strictly under $1800 and im located in a rural area where shipping takes weeks so i have to time this perfectly if i want the rig ready for my deadline.

i keep hearing mixed stuff about how nvidia and the retailers handle the holiday rush. some people say they never discount the flagships because the demand is always there but then 2026 is supposed to be a huge year for competition so maybe theyll actually have to compete on price for once? i dont want to wait until november just to find out the price only dropped fifty bucks or even worse that they went out of stock entirely because of some ai craze. do you think we will actually see significant price cuts on the high-end gpus during the 2026 holiday sales or is it usually just the mid-range cards that get the good deals...

Unfortunately flagship deals are usually not as good as expected. I had issues with waiting before... honestly just grab a used NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB and dont waste your time.
