I'm planning a trip for early next year and I've heard that Cyber Monday can be a great time to find flight deals. Can anyone share their experiences or tips for snagging the best Cyber Monday flight deals in 2024? What airlines typically participate, and how much can I expect to save? Also, are there specific strategies I should use to ensure I don't miss out on the best offers? Any insights on whether it's better to shop on Cyber Monday itself or wait for Travel Tuesday would be appreciated!

Honestly, im kinda dreading the whole Cyber Monday hype again. I tried so hard last year to find something legit for my spring break and it was just a massive letdown... everything felt like a bait and switch once I actually got to the checkout screen.

  • Southwest: I spent three hours on the Southwest Airlines App only for it to crash every time I selected a flight. By the time it worked, the 50 dollar deals were gone and I was looking at 200 dollar tickets. Total waste of my morning.
  • American Airlines: Their sale seats were only for basic economy with zero flexibility. By the time I added a seat assignment so I wouldnt be stuck in the middle, the price was way higher than a normal ticket I saw back in October.
  • Hopper App: I kept getting notifications for price drops, but every time I opened the app to book, the price had already spiked. It felt like I was chasing ghosts all day. It is just so draining to put in all that effort and end up with nothing to show for it. I feel like these airlines just use the day to get traffic to their sites without actually offering real savings for budget travelers... ngl it just makes me want to stay home.

Cyber Monday 2024 falls on December 2, and it's a prime opportunity for travelers to find significant flight deals. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Airlines Participating: Major airlines like Delta, United, Spirit, and Frontier typically offer discounts during Cyber Monday sales, along with international carriers.

  2. Types of Deals: Expect discounts on both domestic and international flights. Airlines often use this day to promote new routes or fill remaining seats for the year.

  3. Best Strategies:

    • Sign Up for Alerts: Subscribe to airline newsletters and travel deal platforms to get updates on sales.
    • Set Fare Alerts: Use tools like Google Flights to monitor price drops on your desired routes.
    • Be Flexible: Consider alternative destinations or travel dates to maximize savings.
  4. Comparison with Other Days: Cyber Monday often features more focused travel deals compared to Black Friday, making it a great second chance for savings. Travel Tuesday may also offer exclusive discounts, particularly for flexible travel dates.
