Are Cyber Monday 2026 clothes discounts worth waiting for?

Ive been looking at price trackers for high-end outerwear and some blogs claim that Black November has basically killed the actual Cyber Monday deals for clothes but then other people say the stackable coupons on that specific Monday are the only way to get the big brands under budget. Im moving to Chicago in late 2026 and need to buy a serious winter kit but Im worried the stock will be gone if I wait.

  • budget is strictly $700-800 for everything
  • looking for brands like Patagonia or North Face
  • need a heavy parka and waterproof boots

Im just torn if the 2026 discounts are actually gonna be worth the stress or if I should just shop the end-of-season sales way earlier in the year...

To add to the point above: honestly, I disagree that you will miss out if you dont buy right now. While people panic about stock, Cyber Monday is actually decent if you stick to sites that allow stackable coupons. You can easily snag a Eddie Bauer Peak XV Down Parka 800-Fill and Kamik NationPlus Winter Boots Waterproof for way less than the bigger brands. Youll stay just as warm in Chicago without blowing your whole budget.

I would suggest being very careful with the Cyber Monday hype for high-end outerwear. From my experience, wait-times often lead to disappointment because the popular sizes in premium brands sell out long before the actual Monday arrives. If you are moving to Chicago, you basically cant afford to miss out on the essentials. I would recommend looking at these specific items during the February or March clearance instead:

  • Patagonia Jackson Glacier Parka
  • This usually sees a significant price drop during end-of-season sales compared to the 20 percent coupons in November.
  • The North Face McMurdo Parka
  • A solid Chicago staple that stays warm.
  • Sorel Caribou Waterproof Boots
  • Essential for those slushy city corners. Keep in mind that your 800 dollar budget might get stretched thin if you buy at peak season. Shopping early 2026 for your late 2026 move is definitely the smarter play to guarantee you get the right fit and tech... honestly, dont risk it.

tbh i tried waiting for the big cyber monday drops a few years ago and it was a total disaster for me. i was moving to minneapolis and thought id score a massive deal on a heavy parka but by the time monday morning rolled around all the normal sizes like medium and large were completely wiped out. i ended up panic buying a jacket that was way too thin because i didnt want to freeze. honestly if you wait until late november for 2026 you might just be looking at the leftover scraps that nobody wanted. you really need to pay attention to the technical specs for chicago since that lake effect wind is brutal. make sure to look for:

  • a shell with at least 10k/10k waterproofing
  • 600 or 700 fill power down for real insulation
  • boots with thick rubber soles to block the road salt i would suggest checking out the Marmot Fordham Jacket 700 Fill Power Down because it usually hits deep discounts way before the actual holiday. i switched to that and it kept me warm when it was -10 out. for boots you might want to consider something like the Columbia Bugaboot Celsius Plus IV Omni-Heat Infinity because that reflective lining actually works. be careful with those stackable coupons tho because most high-end brands exclude their top-tier gear from those promos anyway... better to grab a 30% off deal in early november than hope for 50% on a sold-out item.
