Will sustainable fashion brands participate in Black Friday 2026 sales?

I'm already starting to stress about my wardrobe for my big move to Amsterdam in December 2026 and I really want to do the whole slow fashion thing but my bank account is screaming. I've been eyeing the Down With It Parka from Patagonia and also a heavy wool coat from Reformation but man those prices are steep. I know a lot of these ethical brands usually do the whole anti-black friday thing or even close their sites to protest consumerism but I'm really hoping for some kind of break. Like do they ever actually do sales? I'm torn between waiting for a potential November 2026 sale or just buying used now but the quality on the resale sites is so hit or miss and I'm scared I'll get stuck with something that has a hole in it right before my flight.

My constraints are pretty tight:

  • total budget is under $450 for the outer layer
  • must be warm enough for a wet Dutch winter
  • sustainable/ethical labor practices are a must

If I wait until late 2026 will I just be disappointed? I saw Allbirds did some deals last year but Patagonia usually just does that Give back to the earth thing without discounts. Does anyone have experience with these brands actually dropping prices around then or should I just bite the bullet and buy something cheaper now even if it's less eco-friendly? I'm honestly so worried about missing out...

  • Check Tentree Daily Parka REPREVE since they dont skip sales.
  • Use Patagonia Worn Wear Refurbished for vetted quality so you wont get stuck with holes.

> If I wait until late 2026 will I just be disappointed? In my experience, you probably will be disappointed if you are banking on a straight discount from Patagonia. Over the years, I've seen the Patagonia Down With It Parka 600-Fill-Power Down stay at full price through November while they do their environmental donations instead. However, I have tried many alternatives that do play ball during sale season.

  • Everlane The ReNew Long Parka Recycled Polyester: This is a solid choice for a wet Dutch winter. Unlike Patagonia, Everlane usually runs a significant Black Friday event where you can save quite a bit.
  • Reformation Kensington Coat Heavy Wool: This brand actually does a sitewide sale, typically around 25 percent off. It brings that price much closer to your 450 dollar budget. Honestly, I would skip the risk of used gear for a big move. If you hold out for the Reformation sale in 2026, you will likely hit your target without the stress of hidden damage.

> If I wait until late 2026 will I just be disappointed? Regarding what #1 said, I definitely agree. Patagonia is notoriously stingy with discounts. In my experience, the Nau Copenhagen Recycled Down Trench 650-fill is a more reliable bet. It usually drops to $350 in late November. Methodically, you need that waterproof shell for Dutch rain; wool often loses its thermal efficiency once it gets saturated and honestly wont dry fast enough...
