Are tech discounts better during Cyber Monday or Black Friday 2026?

Should I pull the trigger on Black Friday or is Cyber Monday actually better for tech in 2026? I'm super stressed because my current laptop is dying and I need a full gaming setup before the end of the year. I have a $1,300 budget and I'm scared of blowing it too early.

I read online that Black Friday is mostly for big appliances and TVs but then some forums say Cyber Monday deals are just the leftovers from the weekend. I'm based in Ohio and really don't want to fight crowds for:

  • a decent GPU
  • 144hz monitor

Is there actually a big price difference for components specifically or should I just buy whatever is first...

^ This. Also, in my experience, the price gap between the two days is basically gone. The real issue is stock levels. I've tracked these cycles for years and seen that high-demand hardware like the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 RTX 4060 or a LG 27GP850-B 27 inch 165Hz sell out by Saturday morning. Quick tip: buy as soon as you see a solid 20 percent discount. Don't risk waiting for Monday leftovers.

Agreed. I lost a Gigabyte G5 KF RTX 4060 waiting. Be careful. I'd compare:

  • Dell G15 5530 RTX 4060 for thermals
  • MSI Katana 15 B13VFK RTX 4060 for value Don't wait.

Honestly, i've tracked this for years and Black Friday is usually when the real component deals drop. Cyber Monday is basically the leftovers for hardware, tho you might find better deals on software or peripherals like mice. Since youre in Ohio and want to avoid the chaos, just stick to the online sales Friday morning. Most big retailers start their sales way before Friday anyway... If you're looking for that $1,300 sweet spot, keep an eye on these specific items:

  • Lenovo Legion 5 15.6-inch Ryzen 7 RTX 4060
  • LG UltraGear 27GL83A-B 27-inch 144Hz QHD Monitor
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB GDDR6X The price difference between the two days is usually minimal for core components. Honestly, if you see a good price on Friday, just grab it. Waiting for Monday for a GPU is risky because stock usually runs out by then.

Honestly, Cyber Monday has been a huge disappointment for me lately. I tried waiting for it a couple years back to save on a monitor, but unfortunately the stock was so picked over that I ended up with a budget panel that had terrible light bleed... it just wasnt as good as expected at all. In my experience, hardware reliability is way better on the stuff that goes on sale for Black Friday. If you wait until Monday, you're usually looking at the bottom-of-the-barrel models with plastic hinges and bad thermals that nobody wanted over the weekend. I'd definitely grab something like the Acer Nitro V 15 Gaming Laptop RTX 4060 during the Friday rush if you can find it. Pair it with the Samsung Odyssey G3 24 inch 144Hz Gaming Monitor for a setup that actually lasts. Don't risk waiting... the peace of mind knowing you actually got a decent unit is worth way more than maybe saving ten bucks on Monday leftovers. Tbh just pull the trigger as soon as the price drops on Friday.
