Are Ryzen 9000 series CPUs expected to drop prices for Cyber Monday 2026?

Im actually so annoyed right now because I’ve been trying to figure out how to build a computer and every time I look at parts the prices just go up or people start talking about numbers I don’t understand. Like what even is a 9000 series?? My logic was that if I wait long enough maybe the prices will actually be affordable for someone like me who only has about 600 bucks for the whole thing. I live in a small town in Oregon and there isnt like a Microcenter near me so I have to buy everything online and shipping is a nightmare.

So I was thinking... if the Ryzen 9000 chips are the big deal now, by the time Cyber Monday 2026 rolls around they should be like super cheap right? Or is that not how it works? Im sorry if this is a dumb question but I literally have no idea where to start and every guide I read makes my head hurt. Like will they even still be making them in two years or will there be a Ryzen 12000 by then and the 9000 is trash? I just want to play games without my laptop sounding like a jet engine but I dont want to buy something now and feel like an idiot in 2026 when it costs fifty bucks. Does anyone actually know if these things drop in price that much over two years or am I just wasting my time waiting...

Re: "Im really satisfied with my low-wattage setup. Waiting..." I learned the hard way that waiting years for a price drop is risky. I once sat on a build plan only to find the compatible parts were out of production when I was finally ready. Be careful with that 600 dollar budget tho.

  • Consider the Intel Core i3-12100F 4-Core Processor to save cash.
  • Shipping to Oregon is brutal, so bundle orders to hit free shipping minimums.

honestly waiting until 2026 is a huge time sink just to save a few bucks. by then ryzen 9000 chips will definitely be cheaper but well likely have ryzen 11000 or even newer out by then. the main problem is that $600 budget for a whole machine. even in two years a system with something like the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 6-Core 12-Thread Desktop Processor might be hard because you still need ddr5 ram and a motherboard. i would suggest looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-Core 12-Thread Desktop Processor instead. its super capable with its 65w tdp and might actually fit a budget build much sooner. be careful about waiting forever... tech moves fast and you dont want to deal with that jet engine laptop for two more years. maybe keep an eye on the ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Motherboard to help keep those total costs down since it supports the newer sockets.

  • I definitely agree with the idea that waiting years for a price drop can backfire. Parts go out of production or the compatible boards get pricey once they become legacy tech. I am honestly very satisfied with my current build because I prioritized reliability and parts that are known to just work without a fuss. For a $600 budget, you can get a really solid and quiet machine today. I recommend the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Desktop Processor because it is very stable and stays cool. To make sure it doesnt sound like a jet engine, you should pick up a DeepCool AK400 CPU Air Cooler. It is much quieter than the stock fans and very easy to install. Since shipping to Oregon is such a nightmare, I would look for a reliable ASRock B550M Pro4 AM4 Motherboard and try to get everything in one shipment. It is a much safer bet than waiting until 2026 and hoping for the best... better to be gaming now than stressed later.

Im really satisfied with my low-wattage setup. Waiting is a drag. Try these:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core Processor
  • AMD Radeon RX 6600 8GB Graphics Card Works well for 1080p.

Honestly, waiting that long is a gamble i've lost before. Back when I was first getting into building, I thought I could outsmart the market by waiting two full cycles to buy the high end stuff from the blue team. By the time I actually pulled the trigger, the prices had bottomed out, sure, but finding a decent motherboard that didn't cost a fortune was basically impossible. In my experience, AMD tends to slash prices much faster than Intel once a new generation hits the shelves, but they also stop making the old stuff way sooner. I remember trying to find a specific chip from a few years back for a budget build and it was actually more expensive than the current gen because only third-party sellers had it. If you wait until 2026 for a 9000 series, you might find they arent even in stock at major retailers anymore... it's a weird cycle. I've learned that if you have the cash now, just jump in. The jet engine laptop life is miserable and two years of waiting just to save fifty bucks isnt worth the headache, trust me.
