Ugh so my current card is literally dying on me like the fans are making this horrific grinding noise and I'm losing my mind trying to figure out if I should just bite the bullet now or wait. It's already October and Cyber Monday 2026 is right around the corner but the deals lately have been total garbage anyway. I'm looking at the RTX 5070 which is sitting at like 650 right now or maybe switching over to the RX 8800 XT if I can find one for under 600 but I'm worried the stock is gonna be nonexistent by November.

Here is what I am dealing with:

  • Budget is strictly under $700 after tax
  • Need it for 1440p high refresh rates because I just bought a new monitor
  • Has to fit in a standard mid-tower without me having to saw off the drive cages
  • I'm in the US but my local Micro Center is a two hour drive and I dont have a car right now

I'm leaning towards just getting the 5070 today because I cant stand the fan noise anymore but what if the price drops by like a hundred bucks in a few weeks? Its so annoying how they gatekeep these prices until the very last second. Do you guys think the 2026 deals are actually gonna be worth the wait this time or is it just gonna be the same old bait and switch with discounts on MSRP? Its just frustrating sitting here with a computer that sounds like a jet engine while I refresh Newegg every five minutes...

In my experience, Cyber Monday deals are usually a letdown for mid-range cards. Over the years, I've seen that the stress of waiting often outweighs the minor savings.

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 is solid for 1440p and fits standard towers easily.
  • AMD Radeon RX 8800 XT 16GB GDDR6 offers more VRAM but stock is a total gamble. Id just grab the 5070 now. That fan noise isnt worth the wait.

That grinding sound is the absolute worst! Honestly, I get so paranoid about hardware failing that I'd probably just swap it now before something actually pops. But real quick, what power supply are you rocking in that mid-tower? I'd hate for you to grab a beefy new card and realize your PSU cant handle the transient spikes! If you want something super reliable and amazing for 1440p right now, check these out:

  • ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7
  • Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 8800 XT 16GB The build quality on those is fantastic and they're usually super quiet which sounds like exactly what you need. Since you cant hit Micro Center easily, Newegg or Amazon are totally fine for snagging these. Waiting for Cyber Monday can be such a headache with the shipping delays and stock issues anyway. Peace of mind is worth the extra fifty bucks imo!
