im honestly so tired of waiting for these sales that end up being like five dollars off a thousand dollar card like is there even a point in holding out for cyber monday 2026 for those top tier amd radeon cards like the 9900 series or whatever they call them then?
my current setup is basically a space heater at this point and im losing my mind with these crashes every time i try to export a video for my channel. im trying to plan way ahead because i need to save up but the way prices have been going it feels impossible to even predict what things will cost. i have about 850 bucks set aside specifically for a gpu upgrade and i really want to jump ship from nvidia because im sick of the vram gatekeeping but amd isnt making it easy with their weird launch schedules lately. i live about two hours from a micro center in ohio and im wondering if its even worth the drive or if i should just bite the bullet now and stop hoping for a big discount during the holiday rush.
like do they actually drop the prices on the flagship stuff or is it just the mid range junk that nobody wants? my luck is usually pretty bad with this stuff like i bought my last card a week before a massive price drop and i dont want to get burned again. i mostly do heavy 4K editing and i want to be able to play everything on ultra without my room hitting 90 degrees. it feels like every year the deals get worse and worse and the bots just grab everything anyway. am i being delusional thinking i can snag a top end radeon card for under 900 during the 2026 sales or should i just lower my expectations now? honestly just fed up with the whole hardware market right now and i just want a straight answer if anyone has tracked the trends for high end amd stuff over the last few years because i feel like im losing my grip here...

I've been thinking about your 4K editing setup and man, I feel the pain of a hot room! Quick question tho before I ramble—what kind of power supply are you currently using? If you're pushing a high-end card, you might need a serious PSU upgrade too or the crashes will just keep happening! I've looked at a few options that might fit your 850 buck budget better than a brand new flagship at launch:
- Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB GDDR6
Pros: This thing is a total beast for 4K video exports! That 24GB of VRAM is literally a lifesaver for heavy timelines. I love how it handles Davinci and the speed is just amazing!
Cons: It pulls a ton of power. It might actually make your space heater problem worse unless you learn to undervolt it.
- ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB GDDR6
Pros: Usually sits right around 700 to 750 bucks, leaving you extra cash for more case fans! Still has way more VRAM than the green team's mid-range stuff.
Cons: Slightly slower than the XTX for gaming on ultra, but honestly still fantastic for the price. By the time 2026 rolls around, these current flagships will be way cheaper anyway. Ngl, waiting for the actual holiday specifically is usually a trap because the best deals on high-end tech often pop up randomly in the months before a new launch!

Cyber Monday is usually a bust for flagships, but my secret tip is stalking their open-box inventory. I saved $250 on a fantastic high-end card once that looked brand new. Just make the drive!
