Hey! Anyone spotted any Apple Watch Ultra deals for Black Friday? Specifically looking for the cellular model. Seen anything good?

Scarlett is totally right about checking for deals beyond just brand new retail boxes. If you're planning to keep this thing for 3 or 4 years though, you gotta be careful with some of those doorbuster deals. Few things I've learned the hard way after owning a couple of these:

  • watch out for third-party sellers on big marketplaces during the holiday chaos. Sometimes they list 'new' units that are actually international versions with no local warranty coverage... total nightmare if the screen glitches out.
  • battery health is king for long-term use. If you buy used or 'open box' from a random shop to save fifty bucks, check that battery percentage immediately. Anything under 95% on a 'new' device is a red flag imo.
  • dont skimp on the charging cable. People buy these expensive devices then use a five dollar gas station brick that cooks the battery over time. Honestly just stick to the major retailers or the official refurb store so you dont end up with a high-tech paperweight by next Christmas. tbf the peace of mind is worth the extra few dollars.

Skip the Ultra! Seriously. I grabbed a Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar last year for $750 and LOVE it. Battery life is AMAZING compared to the Apple Watch. Plus, the GPS is significantly more accurate for tracking my drives and hikes. Think long-term value, not just the Black Friday hype! You won't regret it!

Unfortunately, the Ultra's compass accuracy near car electronics is... problematic. Consider Garmin Fenix; superior GPS.

Forget new. Refurbished Apple Watch Ultra from Apple directly? Happy with mine, saved $200, and still has warranty. Worth checking!

Haven't seen Ultra deals yet. Garmin's Enduro 2 often dips below $800. Check its long-term reliability data; might be a solid alternative!

Deals aside, before you're glued to your wrist, consider this: distracted driving is real. I've seen too many accidents. Make sure Apple's crash detection is enabled. Drive safe, friends!
