Heard rumors about a PS5 Pro coming next year. Anyone know if there's a chance we'll see Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on it in 2025? Trying to snag one if the price is right. What are the chances, realistically?

Just found this thread today. Honestly im pretty satisfied with my current setup and dont see the point in rushing into a Pro model that might have some early hardware bugs or compatibility issues with older displays. Im always super cautious about that stuff and like things to just work.

  • Sony PS5 Slim 1TB Console: Really happy with this one, it works well with my physical library and hasnt given me a single error yet.
  • Xbox Series X 1TB Console: No complaints here either, the build quality feels very solid and the cooling is super quiet which I appreciate. It actually reminds me of when I was setting up my media room last year. I spent way too much time worrying about power surges and ended up getting a CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS just to keep everything safe. My neighbor thought I was being extra but then we had a massive thunderstorm and my gear was the only stuff that didnt reboot. I was so relieved... anyway, just my two cents on waiting for the refined versions. but yeah.

Saw the discussion and figured id chime in after seeing folks get hyped for launch deals. Honestly, be careful with the first batch. I learned my lesson with the PS4 Pro launch where my unit sounded like a jet engine after three months and Sony wouldnt even swap it. I was so frustrated because I thought I was getting the ultimate experience but ended up just wearing headphones to drown out the fan noise. I would suggest checking your setup before dropping massive cash on a mid-gen refresh. I spent way too much on hardware before realizing my old TV was the real bottleneck. No point in a Pro if your screen cant keep up. Couple things to think about:

  • If your screen doesnt have HDMI 2.1 or 120Hz support, youre basically missing the point of a Pro. You might want to consider snagging a LG C3 55-Inch Class OLED evo 4K TV during the 2025 sales instead. The jump in image quality there is way more noticeable than a slight frame rate boost.
  • If you are a desk gamer, I found that the Gigabyte M28U 28-inch 144Hz 4K Gaming Monitor made my current setup feel brand new without needing a console upgrade yet.
  • Be wary of those Black Friday bundles. Retailers love to pack in cheap accessories to keep the price high while making you think youre getting a steal.

Been using this for years, no complaints

Honestly, new consoles on sale that soon? Unlikely. I bought a launch PS5, and even a year later, prices were still inflated. Maybe check used markets in late 2026?

Doubtful. Expect minimal discounts, maybe 5%, on a brand new console in late '25.

Hold off on the PS5 Pro rush. Launch models often have bugs. Wait until mid-2026 for safer, more reliable hardware revisions. Patience is key!

Black Friday 2025? Maybe. But realistically, expect MSRP or slightly above. Consider waiting 'til early 2026; used consoles often drop then. Think long-term value.

2025 Black Friday PS5 Pro deals? Unlikely, historically. Consider Nintendo Switch OLED – often discounted, robust aftermarket. Sony typically holds firm on new console pricing initially. Monitor pre-owned markets post-launch for better value. Initial units rarely see significant markdowns.
