Are luxury clothing sales worth waiting for during the 2026 holiday season?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am totally lost and have zero idea where to start with all this luxury stuff. My sister is getting married in early 2027 so I really want to buy her a nice designer coat or a bag but I only have like $850 saved up and everything is so expensive right now. I keep hearing people talk about the holiday sales in late 2026 but do the big fancy brands even do discounts? Someone told me they never go on sale. I live in Chicago and the shops downtown are so scary I just dont want to look stupid... is it actually worth waiting for those 2026 holiday sales or is it just a waste of time?

Unfortunately, true luxury sales are often a disappointment since top brands rarely discount their best items. It is quite frustrating when you have a specific budget and dont want to waste time.

  • Most holiday sales are just seasonal leftovers.
  • Inventory is never as good as expected. Look into the Tory Burch Eleanor Small Convertible Shoulder Bag or the Mansur Gavriel Large Bucket Bag Calf Leather instead.

  • sales are worth it, I've saved a ton during holidays before - try a Coach Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 Polished Pebble Leather to stay under budget without the scary shops

Like someone mentioned, those sales are total chaos. I remember waiting for a big winter drop thinking I'd snag a deal, but everything was gone in seconds. You might want to be cautious with the holiday rush though. My sister actually preferred the Longchamp Le Pliage City Tote I found on a random day over the fancy stuff I missed. Just remember that holiday sales are often final... those downtown crowds are no joke.
