i really need some new sneakers because mine are basically falling apart but i have no clue how cyber monday works or which site to watch. i keep hearing nike has the big sales but then people say adidas is way cheaper for just regular stuff. i only have about 80 dollars to spend and i just need them for walking my dog and the gym a few times a week. i dont really care about the fancy limited edition stuff just want something comfy.

  • budget is 80 max
  • mostly for walking and gym
  • need them to last a while

is one brand usually better for the big discounts or should i just check both? sorry if this is a dumb question i just dont know where to start...

Honestly, you'll probably have better luck with Adidas if you're strictly sticking to that 80 dollar limit. They usually go crazy with sitewide 40 or 50 percent off codes during Cyber Monday, which puts some really decent mid-tier shoes right in your range. Nike is great too, but their best deals are almost always an extra 25% off code on top of stuff that's already on sale, so it takes a bit more digging. I've spent way too much time tracking these sales over the years, and here is what i usually see for gym and walking stuff:

  • Adidas Supernova Rise Running Shoes
  • These are fantastic for daily walking. The foam is really forgiving on your joints but they dont feel mushy when you're doing lifting or basic gym stuff. They usually drop well below 80 during the big sales.
  • Nike Pegasus 40 Road Running Shoes
  • This is like the gold standard for a do everything shoe. I have used every version of these for like five years and they are super durable. On Cyber Monday, the previous year's model or certain colors always hit that 60 to 70 dollar sweet spot.
  • Adidas Questar Road Running Shoes
  • If you want to save even more money, these are basically the budget kings. They're simple, they last forever, and you can usually grab them for like 40 bucks during the holidays, leaving you extra cash for gym clothes or whatever. Dont worry about it being a dumb question... everyone starts somewhere and those sites can be a total mess during the holidays. Just keep an eye on the Adidas app specifically because they sometimes give members early access to the better discounts.

TL;DR: Skip the cheapest Nikes if you want longevity; check New Balance or Reebok for better build quality under 80 bucks. @Reply #1 - good point! Adidas usually has steeper discounts but in my experience their budget models have thin outsoles that wear down fast with daily dog walks. Over the years I've found the New Balance Fresh Foam 680v8 Road Running holds up much better for gym work and pavement. The foam is reliable and dont go flat after two months like some others. If you're doing more gym stuff than running, the Reebok Nano X3 Training Shoes are basically tanks. They're usually on deep discount and will outlast any budget Nike pair. Nike is great for high-end gear but their entry-level stuff feels kinda flimsy lately tbh. Go for something with more rubber on the bottom if you want them to actually last a while.
