Are high-end gaming CPUs expected to drop price on Cyber Monday 2026?

Look I am totally lost here and I feel like I am running out of time even though its still a bit away because I need to plan my budget out perfectly. My little brother is turning 18 in December 2026 and I promised him I would build him the fastest gaming computer possible so he can finally stop using that old laggy laptop he has. I have been saving up for over a year and I have about 3200 dollars put aside in a special jar but every time I look at parts online I get so confused. I keep seeing people talk about these high end CPUs like the i9 things or the Ryzen 9 ones and they are so expensive it makes my eyes water. I really need to know if these specific top of the line ones actually get cheaper on Cyber Monday or if that is just a myth?

I dont want to wait until the last minute and then find out they are still 600 dollars because then I wont have enough for the shiny lights and the big screen he wants. I heard that sometimes the newest ones dont even go on sale because they are too new? Is that true? Like if a new one comes out in late 2026 will it be full price even on Cyber Monday? I am basically a total beginner at this and I only just found out that the CPU is the brain of the thing and not the whole tower itself so please talk to me like I am five years old lol.

I live near a Micro Center in Ohio but I am worried about the crowds and if the online deals are better. Should I expect like a 50 percent off thing or is it more like 20 bucks? If the prices dont drop much I might as well just buy it now and get it over with so I can stop stressing. Does anyone remember what happened in previous years with the really fast ones? I just want him to have the best thing possible for his big birthday...

^ This. Also, adding my two cents because I remember when I was starting out, I was totally terrified of picking the wrong thing and wasting my savings. I tried to wait for a massive drop on an Intel Core i9-13900K 3.0GHz 24-Core a couple years back and the price actually went up because stock got low. It is so stressful trying to time it perfectly. If you are looking at the top-tier stuff, you are basically comparing things like the Intel Core i9-14900K 3.2GHz 24-Core against the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2GHz 16-Core. From my experience, the Intel chips are super stable but they suck up a ton of power, which means you end up spending more on a beefy power supply and cooling. The Ryzen chips are incredible for gaming specifically but sometimes the motherboards can be a bit more expensive. Since you have that Micro Center nearby, that is honestly your best bet for peace of mind. Online shopping on Cyber Monday is a gamble with shipping delays or parts getting lost. Micro Center usually has these bundles where you get the CPU, motherboard, and RAM together for a huge discount. It makes everything way simpler for a beginner because you know the parts definitely work together. Dont stress too much about the 50 percent off stuff... it usually doesnt happen for the high-end brains of the computer. Just aim for a solid bundle and you will be fine.

tbh you gotta be careful with the cyber monday hype. those huge 50% discounts basically never happen for high-end chips. expect maybe 30 bucks off. you might want to consider checking micro center for bundles instead. make sure to wait until late 2026 tho. if you buy now, the tech will be outdated before his birthday.
