Is waiting for 2026 Black Friday worth it for an AMD upgrade?

So I have this old laptop right now and it basically takes forever just to open a web browser so I really want to get a real desktop pc soon. My cousin told me I should look into AMD stuff because they are better for the money but I honestly have no clue what that even means like is it a brand or a specific part? I’ve been saving up my birthday money and some cash from my part time job and I think I’ll have about $800 by late 2026 which feels like a long time away but I want to do this right.

I keep seeing people talk about waiting for black friday deals to save big bucks but since I’m starting from zero I dont know if waiting that long makes sense or if the parts will be totally different by then. Like if I wait until 2026 will the stuff they sell now even be good or will there be like a whole new version of AMD? I’m sorry if this is a really basic question but I’m just super confused about how fast computer stuff gets old and I dont want to waste my money on something that wont last me a while. Do you think it’s actually worth it to hold out until the 2026 sales or should I just buy whatever is out whenever I hit my budget?

Waiting till 2026 is overkill lol. Im super happy with these:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 8600G 6-Core Processor has great integrated graphics.
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor is faster for heavy multitasking.

2026 is basically a lifetime away in the tech world, tbh. If your current laptop is already struggling just to open a browser, waiting another two years is gonna be super frustrating. I would suggest you be careful about holding out that long because computer parts usually follow a strict two-year release cycle. By late 2026, the stuff we recommend today like the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-Core 12-Thread Processor might be two generations behind. AMD is the brand that makes the CPU, which is basically the brain of your computer. Right now, the current standard is the AM5 platform. You might want to consider that if you buy into it now with something like an ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Motherboard, you actually have an upgrade path for the future. If you wait until 2026, we might be looking at a brand new socket type, meaning you might have to buy a totally different motherboard anyway. I would be worried that your money wont go as far then if prices for the newest tech spike. Make sure to factor in that you also need a graphics card and some Crucial Pro DDR5 32GB 5600MHz RAM Kit to make everything run smooth. Honestly, if you can hit that budget sooner, just go for it. Life is too short to deal with a slow PC for two more years, and those Black Friday deals are usually better for older stock anyway. If you want a full breakdown of what a budget build looks like right now, I can definitely help with that.
