Should I wait for 2026 Black Friday to buy an AMD Radeon GPU?

Do you guys think I should actually hold out until the 2026 Black Friday sales to grab an AMD Radeon card or am I just being way too patient for my own good? I am so stoked because I finally have my savings goal met—about $750 set aside just for the GPU—and I am building this mid-range beast in my tiny apartment here in Austin but man the rumors are killing me. I am currently torn between just pulling the trigger on an RX 7900 XT right now since they are hitting some great price points or waiting for the RDNA 4 launch and then eventually the RDNA 5 monster cards that everyone is hyping up for 2026.

The 7900 XT looks amazing for 1440p which is my target and I found a couple models that would actually fit in my small form factor case but I keep hearing that RDNA 4 is going to fix the ray tracing issues AMD has had and then RDNA 5 is supposed to be this ground-up redesign. If I wait until Black Friday 2026 I could probably get a top-tier RDNA 5 card or at least a super discounted RDNA 4 flagship but that is such a long time to wait when I am still rocking a GTX 1650 that struggles to even open Discord while a game is running lol. I am mostly into RPGs and I really want to see those beautiful environments without my PC melting through the floor.

Is the jump to 2026 tech really gonna be that big of a deal compared to what we have now? I feel like I am stuck in that classic trap of if you wait you get better stuff but 2026 feels like a lifetime away even though I am tempted by the potential savings during those holiday sales. I just want the best bang for my buck since I wont be able to upgrade again for like five years after this. Maybe I should just get a mid-range card now and then sell it in 2026? I dont know...

To add to the point above: im gonna have to slightly disagree with blowing the whole $750 right now if you are already stressed about 2026. Waiting two years is straight up torture, but you dont need to spend every penny of your savings to get a great experience today. I am incredibly satisfied with my mid-range build and it handles 1440p like a champ without breaking the bank. Check out these options instead of the top-tier stuff:

XFX Speedster QICK319 Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB GDDR6 Honestly, going from a 1650 to something like the ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6 is such a massive jump that your jaw is gonna hit the floor anyway. If you buy that now, you keep like $250 in your pocket. That is a lot of extra cash for games or to start a fresh fund for when those RDNA 5 cards actually exist. I have had zero complaints with my current setup... it works well, stays quiet, and I didnt have to drain my whole account. Austin apartments get hot too, so a card that draws a bit less power than the 7900 XT might actually be a blessing for your AC bill lol.
