I am trying to plan way ahead for 2026 because I'm finally gonna pull the trigger on a full video rig upgrade. Ive been looking at B&H because their selection is just better than most places near me but I'm super confused about their actual start time for Black Friday. I read on a few deal tracker sites that they usually start the Sunday before Thanksgiving, but then I saw a older thread saying they don't actually drop the real heavy hitters until Thursday night or even Friday morning. Plus their store hours are always so specific with the holiday closures and Shabbat so I dont know if that messes with when the website actually updates the prices. I dont want to miss out because things go out of stock so fast.

Im trying to stick to a budget of around $3,500 for a new Sony body and maybe a G-Master lens. Here is what Im looking for:

  • Needs to be the latest video-centric tech available by then
  • Fast shipping to Oregon because I have a shoot the first week of December
  • Has to be an authorized dealer for the full warranty

Does anyone know if they do like a midnight eastern time launch or if it's just random? I dont want to be refreshing the page at 3 AM if the deals dont actually go live until they open the physical store in NYC...

I've been super happy with B&H because they're so reliable with warranties. Honestly, the deals usually start popping up the Sunday before. I'm really satisfied with how they handle shipping too... super fast. If you're looking to save money, check for that tax-back deal on the Sony Alpha a7S III Mirrorless Digital Camera Body. Just dont wait until Friday evening because the site literally stops taking orders for Shabbat tho.

  • In my experience, big deals drop Thursday at 9 PM ET. Use Payboo to save tax on a Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM Lens.

Regarding what #2 said about that 9 PM window... unfortunately I had issues with that timing last year. I tried to grab a Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II but the site just froze up. By the time it worked, shipping was pushed way back. It was not as good as expected and totally stressed me out for a shoot. Honestly, just be ready for the site to crawl.
