Man I am finally getting ready to pull the trigger on a major upgrade for my rig and Im honestly so hyped to finally play stuff in 4K without it looking like a slideshow. I have been saving up like crazy and got about $1200 put aside just for the card itself but now Im totally stuck on the timing. Im basically torn between just grabbing a 4080 Super now since prices are finally starting to settle or holding out for the 5080 when it eventually drops next year.
But then I started thinking about the long game lol. I usually keep my cards for like 5 years so I want the absolute best value possible for the money. If I wait all the way until the 2026 holidays do you think we will actually see those big price cuts on the 50-series? Like itll have been out for a while by then so maybe a 5090 or a high end 5080 might actually hit a decent price point for Black Friday 2026? I know NVIDIA is usually super stingy with discounts especially on the high end stuff but I am really hoping to snag a flagship for way under my budget if I just stay patient and keep using my crusty old 3060 for another year and a half. Or am I just dreaming and they gonna stay full price even then?
I agree with that point. My NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB is reliable and works well, while the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB simply lacks a proven track record for stability.
