Anyone seen any early leaks for GPU prices this Black Friday or is it still way too early for the 2026 sales to start popping up? I'm trying to plan my build for late November and honestly I'm stuck between a few choices and really dont want to overpay if a massive price drop is coming in three weeks. I’ve been saving up for like a year now and have about $850 set aside just for the card which is a lot for me so I'm trying to be super careful with where my money goes.

Right now I'm basically torn between three specific paths. First is the RTX 5080 because I’m hoping the price finally tanks once the 60 series is fully out in the wild, but some people on reddit are saying the stock is gonna be total trash again like it was two years ago. Second choice is just grabbing the new RTX 6070 on launch week if there are any decent bundles at Best Buy or Micro Center. I live like 2 hours away from the nearest Micro Center in Tustin so I could make the drive if the deal is actually worth the gas and the time but I'd hate to get there and find out they're sold out. Third option is switching to team red with the RX 9800 XT because the VRAM numbers they're throwing around look insane for the price, but I'm lowkey worried about the ray tracing performance for the big open world titles coming next year.

I'm mostly gaming at 4K on a 144Hz monitor I bought last year and my old 3070 is just screaming for mercy at this point... it literally sounds like a jet engine taking off when I try to run anything on high settings. I really want to hit that sweet spot where I dont have to upgrade again until 2030 if possible. I've been scouring the usual leak sites but everything seems so quiet this year? Usually by late October we have at least some leaked ad scans from Newegg or something. If anyone has seen any whispers about price cuts on the 50-series specifically that would be huge. I'm leaning toward the 5080 if it hits that $750 range but if it stays stuck at $1k then I guess I'm just going with the newer 6070. What do you think is the better play for a long term build?...

Saw this earlier but honestly, I'm kinda disappointed with how these 'deals' are shaping up. Like someone mentioned, people are hoping for a cheap 5080, but unfortunately I think the price is gonna stay bloated.

  • Skip the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB if it's over $850.
  • Seriously consider the ASRock Phantom Gaming RX 9800 XT 20GB for 4K.
  • The Gigabyte Windforce RTX 6070 12GB is a safer bet for your budget. Building right now is a total headache but you'll get there!

Honestly, real leaks for 2026 are still kinda thin right now because retailers are guarding the 60-series launch info. If you have $850, you are in that middle ground where you have to choose between high-end last gen or mid-range current gen. Based on what usually happens this time of year, here is the direct breakdown for your budget:

  • The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 is your best bet for 4K longevity if it hits that $750-800 mark. Retailers usually bundle these with power supplies to clear inventory before the 6080 arrives, so watch for those combo deals.
  • I wouldnt drive two hours to the Tustin Micro Center without a reservation or a confirmed stock alert. Their Black Friday doorbusters are usually gone by 9 AM. If you do go, keep an eye out for the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 6070 12GB or similar models, they often do $50 off if you buy a motherboard at the same time.
  • For a build meant to last until 2030, 12GB VRAM on the 6070 feels a bit low for 4K textures in future titles. The AMD Radeon RX 9800 XT 20GB GDDR7 is the better raw value for the money, but Nvidia still wins on ray tracing which is gonna be standard in every big game by then. The 5080 price drop is the smartest move for your specific budget tbh. It is a beast and will handle 4K way better than a 6070 in the long run. Just dont expect it to go below $700... $750 is the likely floor for a card with that much power.

The market looks pretty solid for your budget right now. I've been super satisfied with how the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB handles 4K, so finding one under $800 would be a huge win. It works well for long-term builds and hasnt given me any complaints. If the new launch pushes the AMD Radeon RX 9800 XT 20GB price down, that extra VRAM is a methodical way to ensure you hit that 2030 goal.
