Expected price drops for Ryzen and Intel chips on Black Friday 2026?

So I’ve been trying to map out my build for late 2026 and honestly I’m a bit stuck on the timing for the CPU. I’m sitting here in Chicago and I’ve got a Micro Center nearby which is great but I’m trying to keep the CPU and motherboard combo under 600 bucks total. My logic was that by November 2026 we should see some massive clearance on whatever Ryzen 9000 series or Intel Arrow Lake stuff is out now but I read some articles saying that manufacturing costs are actually going up for the newer nodes so those 30-40 percent drops we used to see might be a thing of the past.

I also saw some people on Reddit saying that Intel might have more aggressive pricing if they’re still trying to win back market share after all their recent drama but then someone else pointed out that AMD is dominating the efficiency game right now so they might not even feel the need to discount much. It makes me wonder if I should just buy a mid-tier chip earlier in the year or actually wait for those Black Friday deals. Is it even worth waiting for the 2026 holiday sales if the performance gains between generations are getting smaller? Im just worried I’ll wait all year and only save like fifty bucks which would be a total letdown...

Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally agree that those big store bundles can be a bit of a trap if you arent careful. I have been building rigs for ages and the amount of times I have seen someone buy a clearance combo only to realize the motherboard is a budget tier dud is kinda crazy. You might want to consider that the manufacturing costs really are shifting things. If you are aiming for something like the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core 16-Thread Processor or a high-end Arrow Lake chip, dont just look at the price tag.

  • Check the VRM phases because a cheap board will definitely throttle a high-end chip.
  • Make sure to look for PCIe 5.0 support if you want to stay relevant for a few years.
  • Watch out for clearance bundles that skip out on decent m.2 heatsinks or Wi-Fi 7. I would suggest keeping a close eye on something like the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi Motherboard since those mid-to-high tier boards usually hit a sweet spot for discounts way before the November madness starts. Honestly, I wouldnt wait all the way until late 2026 just to save like fifty bucks. If you can get a solid Intel Core Ultra 7 265K Processor combo for a fair price in the spring, just grab it. The stress of hunting for that tiny extra discount usually isnt worth the months of missed playtime, ngl. Be careful out there tho, because prices sometimes spike right before the sales hit just to make the discount look bigger than it actually is...

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have found over the years that the real savings come from hunting open-box items rather than waiting for November.

  • Focus on AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core Processor clearances when newer chips launch.
  • Snag an ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Motherboard from the manager specials section. In my experience, these markdowns beat any Black Friday doorbuster. Plus, you wont have to deal with the crowds.

In my experience, waiting for Black Friday can be a total coin toss. I remember holding out all through one year for a massive discount, only to find the summer bundles at Micro Center were actually cheaper than the November doorbusters. Since you are in Chicago, you have got a cheat code for that 600 dollar budget. Over the years, I have learned that manufacturers start clearing stock way before the actual holiday hits.

  • Keep an eye on AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core 5.5 GHz bundles since AMD loves to move volume.
  • Intel gets aggressive with pricing on things like the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core LGA 1700 when refreshes are imminent. Honestly, if you find a deal that fits your budget in September, just take it. Saving fifty bucks isnt worth months of staring at a parts list while your current rig struggles... id just go for it.
