im trying to plan a pc build for my kids graduation in late 2026 and i am super stressed about the 300 dollar budget for the chip. i read that amd usually has the biggest price cuts but then some people say intel bundles are better value. which brand actually has the deepest cyber monday discounts consistently...

AMD usually has the most amazing price cuts for Cyber Monday! I love how reliable they've become lately.

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core 16-Thread: Deepest discounts and fantastic power efficiency.
  • Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core 28-Thread: Best value bundles, super rock-solid for graduation builds. You're gonna do great with either, but honestly AMD is so safe for that 300 dollar budget target! Im sure itll be fine...

Regarding what #2 said about honestly, ive been kinda disappointed with Cyber Monday... i actually had a really good experience lately. Its all about finding those stable bundles. So basically weve got one person rooting for AMD price drops and another warning about the marketing hype. I think if you stay focused on reliability youll be fine. For a 300 dollar budget, i have been really satisfied with these options:

  • the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core 5.4GHz often hits that sweet spot during sales and stays super stable.
  • i also think the Intel Core i5-13600K 14-Core 5.1GHz is a great bet for a build that just works without any drama. Im happy with how my last build turned out by sticking to these proven parts. It really takes the stress out of the graduation gift if you dont aim for the newest, buggiest stuff. Let me know if you need help picking a motherboard too!

honestly, ive been kinda disappointed with Cyber Monday lately... the deals often arent as good as expected and feel like marketing hype. Quick question tho, what kind of work or games is your kid planning to do? Knowing that helps a ton.

  • Intel Core i5-14600K 14-Core 5.3GHz gets decent bundle cuts but unfortunately runs way too hot for some setups.
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core 5.4GHz is a beast but motherboard costs can be annoying.
